Fancy yourself as the next rising comic star?

We're inviting budding comedians from across the Midlands to step up to the mic, and take part in a unique comedy showcase, with the opportunity to win a £100 cash prize!

‘Starter for ten’, which takes place at The Public on Friday 23 September, will give ten lucky aspiring comics, ten minutes to perform in front a packed house, as they battle it out to become comedy’s next big thing.

Alongside the cash prize, the comic who impresses our panel of judges most will be given a stepping stone on to the comedy circuit by being given frequent support slots for touring comedy artists at The Public.

‘Starter for ten’ launches the return of regular comedy nights at The Public this autumn.

How to enter!

Comics wishing to enter the competition should email a promo video or links to online content to comedy@thepublic.com together with an application form below.

Deadline for entries is Friday 26 August 2011.

• All comics must be over the age of 18
• Material must be original
• The competition is only open to comics who reside in the Midlands
• If selected you must be available to perform at The Public on Friday 23 September
• Successful applicants selected for the showcase will be contacted by Friday 2 September
• The judges decision is final
