The winner of comedy competition, #HashTagFunny, held at The Public on 1 February, has claimed a £100 cash prize and opportunity to support one of comedy’s rising stars.
In winning the much coveted competition, Jack Kirwan from Wolverhampton, will now have the chance to support Alun Cochrane, the co-host of Frank Skinner’s Absolute Radio show, at the launch night of Sit Down, Stand Up on 1 March.
Wowing the judges and audience with his witty one-liners and likeable charm, the Black Country born comic’s commanding stage presence saw him beat off competition from 9 other local comedians.
Runners up in the competition were Daniel Nicholas and Jay Handley.
Jack Kirwan said,
“I was absolutely thrilled to have taken part in and won #HashTagFunny. The chance to support Alun Cochrane is a fantastic opportunity for me, which will hopefully help further my comedy career.”
Linda Saunders, Managing Director of The Public said,

The standard of comics who performed was incredibly high, going to show the amazing talent which resides in the region. The Public is committed to supporting local talent, so we’re delighted to be providing the Jack with the opportunity to perform alongside a nationally touring comic.”
