Submissions from across the UK to two unique open exhibitions for interactive artists and those working in film and video will be displayed on the gallery's touch screens from 27 January to 20 May 2012.
The Public, famed for its commitment to digital arts, features a number of fixed interactive artworks including work by Blast Theory and Lia & Miguel Carvalhais, together with a changing programme of work by internationally renowned artists. In October 2011 Bandwidth - new work by Josh Nimoy - was launched, in which up to six people are simultaneously able interact with the galleries joined up touch screens to create a combined musical composition.
The open exhibitions, provides a rare opportunity for artists from across the country and internationally to showcase their work alongside such distinguished artists.
Submissions to Screening 2012 include films about love in the Black Country and the monotony of unemployment. Fascinating films about food and its place in war also feature in the exhibition.
Touch Interactive includes work by Sandwell College and Walsall College Photography Department, who have been experimenting with touch screen technology allowing visitors to control simple animation of photographs.
