The Book of Albion

From 4 July to 9 September, we'll be displaying a collection of paintings by Paine Proffitt, artist in residence at West Bromwich Albion Football Club.

Proffitt painted the matchday programme covers for the Premier League team’s entire 2011/12 season, helping the Black Country club win numerous awards for programme design.

Throughout his paintings the US born artist draws on the theme of identity, home, history, love, culture, and the joys and hardships of life. The theme of the programmes, artwork and exhibition has been “The Book Of Albion”, showing the connections of following West Bromwich Albion as a religion, and also looking at the close bonds families form with the club over generations. Much of his work incorporates a variety of contemporary styles to illustrate the beauty and art of life, and emotional connections with have with it.
