Public Gallery
PARTICIPATE! We are dedicated to making change through art and participation. Our international programme will offer a creative, innovative and fun experience to local, national and international visitors and crucially, audiences who do not normally attend art galleries. In our inquiry based business and programme models, learning is at the centre of all that we do. We strive to make that learning visible to visitors, participants, artists and stakeholders and to use it to inform and shape our practice. We shall perform a central role in 'place-making' at the heart of the regeneration of the Borough of Sandwell, offering essential social space within a landmark building, helping to re-define and add value to this place.
We are preparing to open in summer 2008 and will be starting to recruit for various positions in the next couple of months.
We shall offer a schools programme, an annual talks series, projects, and courses that take place in the galleries, on line and off-site and that inspire and reward curiosity about art amongst diverse audiences.
Public Gallery will be located in the landmark Public Building, due to open in the summer of 2008. At the heart of West Bromwich, 15 minutes from central Birmingham, the gallery will showcase an impressive selection of art from local, national and international artists and provide a rich spectrum of creative experiences that evolve with each individual and with each visit.
It will act as a focal point for the £500million regeneration of the Sandwell area. We aim to create a vibrant and exciting focus where art is explored and debated in England’s West Midlands.
